Pawprints of Remembrance is a free Furry Mortals app — a quiet place to honor the pets you’ve loved and lost. These terms are short — please give them a quick read before you dive in.
Anyone 13 or older is welcome. If you’re under 18, please make sure a parent or guardian is okay with you using the app. By signing up, you’re confirming you meet that age requirement.
You own everything you submit — your pet’s story, photos, and details. By posting them here, you’re giving us permission to display them as part of the app. Please only post content you have the right to share, and make sure photos are of your own pets (or pets you have permission to memorialize). You can edit or delete your memorials any time from your dashboard.
This is a space for grief and remembrance. Please don’t post anything false, offensive, or harmful. Don’t try to access other people’s accounts, scrape the app, or use it for spam or commercial purposes. We reserve the right to remove content or accounts that violate this spirit.
Your pin location is shown publicly on the map. We recommend using a general area — a favourite park or your city — rather than your exact home address.
Lighting a candle is a silent, anonymous gesture of support. It’s tracked by a hashed version of your IP address just to prevent duplicates — nothing personal is stored.

Because this app is free, our total liability to you is zero. We make no promises about uptime, data retention, or continuity of service. We strongly recommend keeping your own copies of any photos or stories that matter to you — do not rely on this app as your only record.
These terms are governed by U.S. law. If anything changes, we’ll update the date at the top of this page.
We collect only what we need to run the app. We don’t sell your data, show ads, or use any analytics or tracking tools. Your information is never the price you pay to use something free.
When you sign up: your name and email address.
When you create a memorial: your pet’s name, species, breed, age, story, photos, and map pin location.
When you light a candle: a one-way hash of your IP address (so we can prevent duplicate candles). Your actual IP is never stored.
A session cookie to keep you signed in. It holds no personal information and disappears when you close your browser or sign out.
That’s it. No third-party trackers, no analytics, no advertising cookies.
Memorial pages are public — anyone can view them, with or without an account. This includes your pet’s name, story, photos, breed, age, map pin, and candle count. Your display name appears on your memorials. Your email address is never shown publicly.
Passwords are hashed with bcrypt and never stored in plain text. IP hashes for candles are one-way and can’t be reversed. No internet-connected system is 100% secure, but we take reasonable precautions.
You can edit or delete any memorial from your dashboard at any time. To delete your account and all associated data, reach out via furrymortals.shop. Once deleted, it’s gone for good.
The map is powered by OpenStreetMap via the open-source Leaflet library. QR codes are generated via api.qrserver.com. No other external services are used. The footer links to The Furry Mortals Shop, which is a separate site with its own privacy practices.
